I agree with this completely. 

Honestly, I can understand if people want to draw, like to draw, love to draw, blah blah blah…but once you get into college you need to start thinking about your future. All of you ignorant people replying that this made you so angry must still be in middle school or high school, because you don’t seem to grasp the real world yet. 

YES. Art school is there to help you develop your skills. But by the time you get to the point that you apply for college, lets be honest, you need to already have some skill. 4 years of art school is not going to change someone that can’t draw for shit into a da Vinci, that just doesn’t happen. Its going to change the people that already have the promise  the skills, and the talent into even more amazing artists. If you don’t have that then, well, you’re wasting a lot of money and time on something that is just going to cause you hardship and lack of employment in the future. 

Its already hard enough to survive as an artist out there, let alone if you’re in art school and still can’t grasp basic anatomy. No one is going to want to hire you. No one is going to want to buy your work. So why waste your money and effort?

Honestly, if you love art but aren’t good at it? Keep it as your hobby. There has to be SOMETHING else you at least have a passion for that doesn’t require talent like art does. For example, choose Sociology as a major, but go to a school that offers art programs. Take an art class a semester, or even minor in it if you really love art and can’t bare to not have an art class. You’ll still improve in your art, but you wont be fooling yourself with unrealistic expectations. 

To put it bluntly; If you suck, stay out of art school. Art professors and students have enough stuff to deal with without having to give your shitty art ass-pats all through your 4 year degree. Do them and yourself a favor.

I-I’m sorry…are you mentally challenged? You do realize that the first advancement of art was anatomy, right? And you do realize, the few artists you did pick out that actually are worth anything DO know anatomy??? Are you really so uneducated and to put it bluntly -retarded-  to realize the years of work artists like pablo picasso and yes, even ancient Egyptian artists, put into anatomy BEFORE they stylized anything?? 

I’m not saying stylization is wrong, but all of the comments on this agreeing is making me sick. No. Your shitty no talent animu art is NOT good just because its ‘stylized’. That’s one of the oldest, and dumbest, ways to keep yourself in denial. Learn anatomy and THEN stylize. That’s what all your great mangaka-samas did (well..if they’re any good) and if you really want to get better, you’d follow suit. 

The kind of thinking in the OP post is flawed in so many ways. I dare any of you to actually spew any of that crap to your art teachers, professors, or even your idols. If you don’t get laughed at or patronized until you stop responding I’ll be fucking surprised.

All these animes/comics/ect that you’re soooooo annoyed that the fanart is popular for all started out EXACTLY LIKE YOU. They had a creator that made their own original characters and story. People liked their OCs, they gained popularity, and then they got a break and made it ‘big’. People draw fanart because they appreciate that OC and/or the story it came from. I hate people that make this argument. Its so asinine and juvenile.  You’re just upset because no one likes your supposedly ’original’ characters enough to draw fanart of them or appreciate them as much as you think they deserve. Too bad. Get over yourself. 

(And fyi, using the image of a generic, slutty, scene-haired, and collar bound, succubus girl is REALLY not helping your case. Its just adding to the argument that you’re just upset that your own generic designs aren’t more popular than someone else’s.)

I’m sorry, I just got really, really annoyed with artist-confessions, you know that stupid tumblr blog? I just got really, really mad at what was being posted so I did this.

Oh, guess what guys, I submitted it to them.

You can hate me if you want, but this is my confession and this is my opinion. I’ve seen many of my favourite artists get trashed, and it really just isn’t right to trash someone on there and that’s what this post is about.

I’ve encountered this a few times too. But, I always just say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. B)

No…that’s like getting punched in the face is okay if the person is jut jealous of your pretty face. (far-fetched situation, but you should get it) That’s a horribly asinine way of thinking. “Its okay if people steal my hard work and ideas and pass them off as purely their own! They did it cause they obviously like me! <3”

Makes sense though…I mean its English class. Its your final project. I don’t think she said it to be discouraging necessarily. But I’m positive that a lot of kids that ‘can’t draw’ but don’t want to work hard would probably choose this assignment. For them, its minimal effort compared to writing a paper or something.  So to all you people saying how such a cunt this teacher is, re-think that. While this poster may draw, you have to face the fact that *maybe* this person isn’t as great as she thinks she is, so the teacher has that thought. “Oh, she did this because she didn’t need to work hard.”  I know that this is tumblr, so I’ll get only hate for this, but its the truth. Don’t any of you dare tell me you’ve never looked at someone’s art and thought they weren’t good enough, because that’s a lie. Maybe you don’t say it, but you think it. And in this situation its a teacher, who wants kids to do well and preform their best; quite simply maybe this poster isn’t that great at art —-> hence the teacher’s reaction. (harsh, but, hey, this is life, not sugar-coated fantasy)

You shouldn’t be discouraged by this, even if it’s painful.  Just think of it as another reason to keep striving to improve. Sulking will get you nowhere.
